Konza Techno City – University of Nairobi leading the cadastral survey

The Konza Techno City (KCT) will position Kenya as a leading ICT nation in Africa by leveraging and expanding Kenya’s technology focused industries.KCT is a business processes outsourcing (BPO) project that is run by the Government through the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KOTDA). It is envisioned to be the “Africa’s Silicon Savannah”.

The University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services through department of Geospatial and Space Technology will undertake a cadastral survey to allow roll out of subsequent activities.

Significant milestones have been achieved towards its implementation. These include: Acquisition of 5000 acres around Konza; completion of various feasibility studies; approval of the Local Physical Development Plan (25 February, 2013); finalization of the detailed implementation plan and strategy for Phase 1 by the Master Delivery Partner 1; the City is expected to generate 17,000 direct jobs by the end of 2017 and will have 200,000 residents by the year 2030. It is also expected to generate revenue, develop the Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) and the BPO.

The Park will host a business processes outsourcing, a science park, a convention centre, shopping malls, international school, hotels, health facility projects and a university. It is a key flagship project of Vision 2030 which aims to transform Kenya into a middle-income status by 2030 The City is expected to generate 17,000 direct jobs by the end of 2017 and have 200,000 residents by the year 2030. It is also expected to generate revenue, develop the Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) and Business Process outsourcing.
