UNES undertakes management reviews from time to time in order to assess the effectiveness of the application of its quality management system and its compliance to ISO 9001:2015 through out its processes.

UNES/UON PARTICIPATES IN THE NAIROBI INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR -NITF HELD FROM OCTOBER 1ST – 7TH, 2018 AT ASK SHOW GROUND IN JAMHURI NAIROBI

UNES participates in the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF) held at the ASK Show Grounds Jamhuri, Nairobi from October 1st – 7th, 2018. UNES took advantage of the presence of the public, private sector and NGO to showcases its business portfolio as well as acquiring new leads for future businesses.

As the developed government structure takes root, there is need for the UNES in partnership with the University at the 2018 NITF to focus on counties for purposes of engaging governments in terms of consultancy services, capacity building and training their staff. A shift in the marketing of the UNES and University in tapping the current market potential requires a shift from the center to counties. Both UNES and University purposed to piggy back on county events such as this to pitch consultancy and business development cases during the NITF ASK Show 2018.

UNES PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR EXPO HELD ON SEPTEMBER 26 – 30 AT SARIT CENTER NAIROBI

UNES participated in the just concluded Nairobi International Book Fair, the 21st Edition held at Sarit Centre, Nairobi from 26th – 30th September, 2018. It brought local and international suppliers within the reach.

UNES as one of the exhibitors, got a chance to expand the frontiers by extending its supplier base both in terms of Clients, Books and eBooks.  UNES also engaged the Book Publishers and Book Exhibitors as well as Members of the Public as part of tapping into the opportunities to leverage on the event to expand the market share, create partnerships and linkages.

THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI (UON) LAUNCHES CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER (CEC) ON FRIDAY AUGUST 31, 2018 AT TAIFA HALL, NAIROBI KENYA

The University of Nairobi launched state of the art Customer Experience Center (CEC) on the August 31, 2018. It is the first of its kind and will elevate the institution’s status as it prides itself of world classless. It best suits a premier institution of higher learning which enjoys the number one in the country, the unified CEC is based on IP Telephony solutions enables integration of modern communication technologies with university systems in line with the broader university vision of world class excellence. UNES, one of the subsidiaries and commercial arm of the University of Nairobi was privileged to treat the guest to a colorful cocktail organized at the University Towers 5th Floor and hosted by Arziki Restaurants.

1. OVERVIEW
UNES Ltd is seeking to fill in the position of General Dentist with qualified and highly competent individuals to join its team at University Dental Plaza. The ideal candidate for this position should be proficient in performing regular checkups, complex dental procedures and is committed to quality patient care. Dental Plaza a one stop comprehensive dental treatment hospital that is accessible and affordable to all. The hospital consists of specially designed clinics, X-ray facilities, dental laboratories, theatre and a dedicated Dental Ward for those who may require complex surgery.

2. GENERAL DENTIST – UNES/PMS/DPZ/GD/08/2018
Location: Nairobi
Contract Duration: One year
JOB DESCRIPTION
The incumbent shall be tasked with the following responsibilities:
a) Diagnosis and safe management of oral and dental diseases
b) Promotion of oral health and disease prevention
c) Interpretation of diagnostic tests and development of treatment plans in line with the needs of the patients’ attending the facility.
d) Prescribe medications as necessary
e) Refer complex cases for specialist care as when necessary
f) Maintain patients’ dental records as is required in standard practice.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
a) Have a Dental Degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent from a University recognized in Kenya.
b) Be in good profession standing with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board (MPDB) and completion of dental internship.
c) At least two (2) years’ experience working in a dental clinic.
d) Be proficient in computer skills.
e) Have capacity to multitask within strict timeliness.
f) Be ready to work outside normal working hours.

THE AUTOMATED REFERENCING OPEN PROGRAM TRAINING CONDUCTED BY UNES IN JOINT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI LIBRARY ON THE 21ST JUNE, 2017 IN THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI JOMO KENYATTA MEMORIAL LIBRARY TRAINING CENTER

UNES in joint partnership with the UON Library conducted an Automated Referencing Training on an Open Program basis. It targeted the corporate clients from different organizations and it is a three day corporate training program that runs through 21st June, 2017- 23rd June, 2017 at the University of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library Training Center in Nairobi. The 1st phase of the training covers the Overview of various Referencing Softwares: Mendely and ZOTERO with the applicability and practical aspects.

Laying foundation of Koitalel Samoei University of Science and Technology

President Kenyatta laid the foundation stone of the Koitalel Samoei University College. Koitalel was the supreme chief of the Nandi. The university college, which starts off as a constituent of the University of Nairobi, will be constructed at the cost of Sh3.4 billion.

Dear All,

1. Introduction

University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services (UNES) Limited in collaboration with The Library Department will be running Short Course Training from 21st to 23rd June 2017 on the following topics:-

1) AUTOMATED REFERENCING SYSTEM to be conducted on 21st June 2017
2) PLAGIARISM AND THE USE OF TURNITIN DETECTION SOFTWARE to be conducted on 22nd June 2017
3) PUBLISHING IN HIGH IMPACT JOURNALS to be conducted on 23rd June 2017
2. Target audience
 The course targets Researchers, Academics, and Postgraduate students, Librarians, Authors and Managers.

3. Course Background

The emergences of automated citation and referencing software have now made it easier for all those who venture into scholarly writing. Writing and presenting quality academic papers take time. There are diverse online open source software that make citation and referencing a bliss. There is therefore need for researchers and scholars to have the requisite search and citation skills for effective research output and adherence to academic integrity.

Plagiarism is considered a major academic malpractice, therefore the Automated Referencing and Plagiarism Detection short course training, is aimed at addressing the vice. The short course also intends to build the capacity of the participants in terms of equipping them with necessary skills to effectively cite to avoid plagiarism.

Publish or perish holds true in most research and academic environments, but a single publication in a high impact journal can make a huge impact on one’s academic career path. The course will equip researchers and postgraduate students on writing skills and on how to publish in high impact journals and books

4. Objectives of the short course training are to
1) Equip participants with citing and referencing skills using Zotero and Mendeley Bibliographic Management software
2) Train participants on how to use Turnitin to detect plagiarism.
3) Enhance academic writing.
4) Equip participants on how to publish in high impact commercial and open access journals and books

5. Learning outcomes:

At the end of the short course training, the participants should:

1) Download, install and use Zotero and Mendeley to cite and reference their work.
2) Produce quality scholarly write-ups.
3) Publish scholarly articles and book chapters in high impact journals and books

Course structure:

The training will cover the following broad thematic areas: Zotero, Mendeley, Turnitin and publishing in high impact journals.

Mode of instruction:

Presentations will be delivered through PowerPoint presentations, interactive sessions and practical. Participants will be required to have an internet enabled computer.

Duration:

1) The course will take place from 21st to 23rd June 2017.
2) Participants can select to attend any or all of the three courses.

Venue: Computer Lab, Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library, UoN.

Cost: Ksh. 7,000 per course (Including Meals)
