UNES UNIVERSITY BOOKSTORE HOSTS A WARD WINNING AUTHOR PROF. NGUGI WA THIONG’O DURING THE LIVE RECORDING BY BBC WORLD BOOK CLUB ON FEB 19 – 22, 2019 IN NAIROBI

Prof. Ngugi Wa Thiongo, the world best renowned writer during the live recording by the BBC World Radio at the UNES Bookstore in  Nairobi. The program will be aired live on the BBC  Website come March 3, 2019. Pro. Ngugi schemed through his book entitled “Grain of Wheat” the book carries with it the heavy weight of Kenya’s situation in the wake of Mau Mau rebellion and the struggle for independence which is more relevant today. He was greatly applauded by Prof. Mbithi who cited how authors and indeed creative writers like Ngũgĩ and others use novels as a channel for preserving and transferring information and cultures from one generation to another. Prof. Ngugi urged young writers to tell and writes African stories and connect with the outside world.
