Prof. Gilbert Ouma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth & Climate Sciences at the University of Nairobi and a key academic affiliate of the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation (ICCA). He is a dedicated meteorologist with over two decades of experience in climate science, remote sensing, satellite meteorology, and participatory climate change adaptation research.

Prof. Ouma’s work focuses on applying observational data and participatory methods to strengthen climate risk assessment frameworks, improve early warning systems, and promote forecast-based financing models that support vulnerable communities. His research and training efforts span academia, field-based climate resilience practice, and regional capacity building, making him a trusted voice in climate adaptation education and climate services innovation.

In this course, Prof. Ouma will bring his expertise in climate dynamics, satellite-based monitoring, and resilient decision-making, helping participants understand both the science and practical application of meteorological data in climate resilience planning.
