Training of Trainers (ToT) for Somalia’s ICT Sector being undertaken at UoN Chiromo by UNES

The Opening ceremony for Training of Trainers (ToT) in Somalia’s ICT sector: Mobile Application Development at the University of Nairobi, School of Computing graced by Seith Abeka – Managing Director, UNES, Mr Paul Ndung’u Kariuki -Director ICT, Mr. Abdiaziz Duwane Issak-Director General, Ministry of Communications and Technology (MoCT), Federal Government of Somalia, as well as JIN/JICA team led by Riai Yamashita-Deputy Chief Advisor, Yoshie Maekawa-Project Coordinator, Keiju Motegi-ICT Expert and Misa Abiko-Project Coordinator

JICA, through JIN Corporation, is implementing the Youth Employment Project for Somalia (YEPS)  Program. UNES has been a pivotal service provider to this program since it has already trained the first ToTs in the Engineering Sector.

The current assignment targets to build capacity for over 20 Trainers of Trainers (ToTs) Mobile Application Development. The  participants are expected:

– To acquire skills and knowledges required to be a professional junior mobile application developer (precisely for hybrid mobile application development using React Native), so that they can work globally by following global trend and be capable of learning other technologies efficiently by applying the skills/knowledge they acquired through this training program

– To improve capability to effectively teach/ transfer know-how to the young engineers as an instructor/ supervisor.
