1.    OFFICE ASSISTANT (ONE POSITION): UNES/F&AD/OA/01/2018

    Location:  Nairobi

Contract Duration: Three Years Subject to 3 months’ probationary period

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Administration Officer, the incumbent shall be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  1. Performing Messengerial duties
  2. Operating reprographing equipment
  3. Cleaning the Offices
  4. Prepare and Serve Tea
  5. Account for kitchen utilities
  6. Mail delivery and collection
  7. Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor

 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

  1. Possess at least KCSE grade D+ (plus) or equivalent
  2. Possess good Communication Skills in both English and Kiswahili
  3. Computer literate
  4. Be a person of high integrity
  5. Must have worked in a busy office for at least 2 years
  6. Certificate of good conduct
  7. Be presentable

2.   KITCHEN SUPERVISOR (TWO POSITIONS): UNES/HOSP/KS/01/2018

    Location:  Nairobi

Contract Duration: Three Years Subject to 3 months’ probationary period

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Supervisor, the incumbent shall be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  1. Provide Assistance to the Food & Beverage (F&B) Management in all Menu preparations, Kitchen rules, service standards, cleanliness and inventory control for F&B.
  2. Ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained in the restaurant
  3. Implementation of quality management systems procedures and file all records and documents.
  4. High quality food production that meet stringent standards and consistently maintained
  5. To ensure that high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained
  6. To ensure that stocks used for production are accurately accounted for.
  7. Work closely with the Supervisors to plan menus that would attract and retain customers
  8. To ensure efficient service delivery is maintained in the kitchen
  9. To ensure food variety is provided and it meets every customer’s expectation and specification.
  10. To ensure that kitchen equipment and crockery is properly maintained.
  11. Supervise, set targets and appraise all kitchen staff
  12. To develop and demonstrate proper use of standard recipes
  13. Analyzing cost margins and control costs of production
  14. Identify training needs of cooks and other kitchen staff
  15. Ensure world – class customer service is provided
  16. Any other duty assigned by the Supervisor

JOB SPECIFICATION:

  1. Diploma in Food Production or equivalent from a recognized institution
  2. Minimum three (3) years’ work experience as a Head Cook/Chef in a busy 3 to 4 star restaurant
  3. Ability to guide and supervise staff
  4. Must be conversant with food and beverage cost control and accountability
  5. Other certificates relevant to the job i.e. kitchen supervision will be an added advantage Computer literate
  6. Minimum C plain in KCSE
  7. Innovative and quality conscious
  8. Good food presentation skills
  9. Ability to work under pressure& long hours

3.      SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER (ONE POSITION): UNES/F&AD/SHRAO/01/2018

    Location:  Nairobi

Contract Duration: Three Years Subject to 6 months’ probationary period

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to Chief Manager, Finance & Administration the incumbent duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop and Implement Human Resource related Policies and Procedures.
  2. Develop and Implement Staff Development Framework in the organization.
  3. Develop and implement Employee Performance Management Programs.
  4. Manage the administration section activities
  5. Advise employees and line managers on labour issues.
  6. Manage employees’ Leave.
  7. Develop and implement Staff retention programs.
  8. Develop and implement On Boarding and Off Boarding programs.
  9. Manage Employee Disciplinary matters.
  10. Manage Recruitment and Selection process within the organisation.
  11. Maintain the work structure by updating Job Specification and Job Descriptions for all positions.
  12. Support in developing appropriate Organizational Structure.
  13. Maintains the Quality Management System for the Section.
  14. Oversee maintenance of HR filling system and ensure safety of employee records.
  15. Administration of health and life insurance schemes.
  16. Coordinates Human Resources related Administrative activities such as; Medical scheme, loans and advances, gender mainstreaming, disability mainstreaming, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, HIV/AIDS Prevention activities.
  17. Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor

 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource or its equivalent
  2. Membership to Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
  3. Five (5) years’ experience preferably in the Public Sector, 3 of which must be at supervisory level
  4. Knowledge of Kenya Labour Laws and Best Industry Practice.
  5. Possess good analytical, oral and writing skills
  6. Possess Good Leadership, human and public relation Skills
  7. Person with high Integrity and Confidentiality
  8. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment

 

4.      CONSULTANCY MANAGER (ONE POSITION): UNES/CONS/CM/01/2018

    Location:  Nairobi

Contract Duration: Three Years Subject to 6 months’ probationary period

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Consultancy Manager reporting to the Chief Manager Consultancy & Partnerships shall be responsible for the execution of consultancy projects and professional trainings. The person will manage the consultancy staff, experts and specialists drawn from the University of Nairobi to ensure timely delivery of assignments with the aim of enhancing the business potential of the unit. The duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  1. Identification and sourcing for new Consultancy Projects.
  2. Ensuring that EOI, RFP, RFQ and Concept papers are prepared and submitted on timely basis.
  3. Managing all contracted consultancies and training programmes to ensure efficiency and timeliness in the execution.
  4. Marketing of Consultancy Projects and Training Programs.
  5. Monitoring the progress of all contracted Consultancy Projects and training assignments.
  6. Implementing of Business and Marketing Plans.
  7. Monitoring compliance with Statutory and Contractual obligations as set out in MOUs and Contracts.
  8. Managing the performance of staff in the consultancy unit.
  9. Management of Client Relationships.
  10. Liaising with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  11. Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

 

  1. Must possess a Bachelor`s Degree preferably in Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Project Management or equivalent.
  2. At least six (6) years hands on experience in consultancy assignments.
  3. Proven expertise in proposal writing/research.
  4. Ability to develop budgets and work plans.
  5. Familiarity with Government and Development partners’ proposal guidelines.
  6. Extensive computer and analytical skills.
  7. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Qualification in monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage.
  9. Master’s Degree is an added advantage.

It was part of networking and linkage to see how best University of Nairobi Faculty and Students of Petroleum Engineering can tap and gain hands on experience both locally and in India especially the Indian Oil Company. It was a prime opportunity for UNES represented by Head of Consultancy to explore other opportunities in terms of partnerships, research and extension as well as capacity building.

UNES LTD PARTICIPATES IN THE KABARAK UNIVERSITY BOOK FAIR AND EXHIBITION HELD ON 13-15TH SEPTEMBER, 2017 AT KABARAK UNIVERSITY GROUND IN NAKURU COUNTY

UNES LTD participated in the just concluded Book Fair and Exhibition organized by Kabarak University on 13-15th September, 2017 at Kabarak University Ground in Nakuru County. It brought about major competitors under one roof where the Deans, Head of Departments, Librarian, Staff and Students got to identity and purchase books of their choice and even recommend the much needed titles to their libraries and departments. UNES had a cutting edge and made a lasting parting shot when it displayed and showcased not only bookstore products but other solution services especially Consultancy, Hospitality, Dental Services and other commercial initiatives as part of its service delivery and customer experience. The Corporate Training for Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Senior Staff on Communication Crisis organized by UNES at the Lukenya Gateway from 6th-8th September, 2017.

UNES Consultancy organized a three day off-shore corporate training to the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Senior Staff on Communication Crisis. It was led by lead consultant Dr. Hezron Mugambi and Leah Muchemi both from School of Journalism University of Nairobi (UON). The training runs from 6th -8th September, 2017 at Lukenya Gateway Arthi River.

The Press Briefing led by National Disaster Management Unit Deputy Director Pius Masai on Moi Girls High School inferno at Chiromo Funeral Parlour on September 5, 2017.

A team of pathologists led by Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor and officials from Government Chemist took specimens from family members of nine students who died during the inferno. Earlier Tuesday morning, the relatives DNA samples were collected ahead of a two weeks postmortem exercise, whose outcome will help them identify their loved ones as explained by National Disaster Management Unit Deputy Director Pius Masai. The fire is said to have started from the cubicle before it quickly spread to adjacent ones and eventually destroyed the entire dormitory housing more than 300 Form One students on the wee hour of Saturday 2nd September. CONTRACT SIGNING & INCEPTION MEETING BETWEEN UNES AND THE REGIONAL CENTER FOR MAPPING OF RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPMENT (RCMRD) ON 22/8/2017

UNES is to offer Consultancy services for feasibility studies & development of conceptual master plans. The general objective is to establish competitive modern business parks for the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD).

The contract signing and inception meeting took place at the Regional Center for Mapping of Recources for Development (RCMRD) offices located along Kasarani Mwiki road, opposite Kasarani police station off Thika Superhighway on exit 8.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE AUTOMATED REFERENCING OPEN PROGRAM TRAINING CONDUCTED BY UNES IN JOINT PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI LIBRARY ON THE 21ST JUNE, 2017 IN THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI JOMO KENYATTA MEMORIAL LIBRARY TRAINING CENTER

UNES in joint partnership with the UON Library conducted an Automated Referencing Training on an Open Program basis. It targeted the corporate clients from different organizations and it is a three day corporate training program that runs through 21st June, 2017- 23rd June, 2017 at the University of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library Training Center in Nairobi. The 1st phase of the training covers the Overview of various Referencing Softwares: Mendely and ZOTERO with the applicability and practical aspects.
