A delegation from the Indian Oil Company (IOCL) and Indian High Commission to Kenya meet with the University of Nairobi under the auspice of DVC Academics. The Meeting was organized By High Commission of India (HCI) at the Council Chambers, University of Nairobi on Friday, November 17, 2017. It was part of networking and linkage to see how best University of Nairobi Faculty and Students of Petroleum Engineering can tap and gain hands on experience both locally and in India especially the Indian Oil Company. It was a prime opportunity for UNES represented by Head of Consultancy to explore other opportunities in terms of partnerships, research and extension as well as capacity building.

UNES LTD PARTICIPATES IN THE KABARAK UNIVERSITY BOOK FAIR AND EXHIBITION HELD ON 13-15TH SEPTEMBER, 2017 AT KABARAK UNIVERSITY GROUND IN NAKURU COUNTY

UNES LTD participated in the just concluded Book Fair and Exhibition organized by Kabarak University on 13-15th September, 2017 at Kabarak University Ground in Nakuru County. It brought about major competitors under one roof where the Deans, Head of Departments, Librarian, Staff and Students got to identity and purchase books of their choice and even recommend the much needed titles to their libraries and departments. UNES had a cutting edge and made a lasting parting shot when it displayed and showcased not only bookstore products but other solution services especially Consultancy, Hospitality, Dental Services and other commercial initiatives as part of its service delivery and customer experience. It extended its market share and communicated a strong presence across the Rift Valley Region with a view of business development and growth.

Traditionally, exposition (expo) or exhibition are normally organized so that companies in a specific industry can come together and showcase or demonstrate their latest products and services, meet with industry partners and customers, study activities of rivals, and examine recent market trends and opportunities.

The Corporate Training for Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Senior Staff on Communication Crisis organized by UNES at the Lukenya Gateway from 6th-8th September, 2017.

UNES Consultancy organized a three day off-shore corporate training to the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) Senior Staff on Communication Crisis. It was led by lead consultant Dr. Hezron Mugambi and Leah Muchemi both from School of Journalism University of Nairobi (UON). The training runs from 6th -8th September, 2017 at Lukenya Gateway Arthi River.

The Press Briefing led by National Disaster Management Unit Deputy Director Pius Masai on Moi Girls High School inferno at Chiromo Funeral Parlour on September 5, 2017.

A team of pathologists led by Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor and officials from Government Chemist took specimens from family members of nine students who died during the inferno. Earlier Tuesday morning, the relatives DNA samples were collected ahead of a two weeks postmortem exercise, whose outcome will help them identify their loved ones as explained by National Disaster Management Unit Deputy Director Pius Masai. The fire is said to have started from the cubicle before it quickly spread to adjacent ones and eventually destroyed the entire dormitory housing more than 300 Form One students on the wee hour of Saturday 2nd September. The incumbent shall be responsible for providing strategic direction, planning, coordinating and managing the Events Management Business line

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities shall include:

  1. Develop and implement Events Management Business plan and Work Plans to support the achievement of the business objectives.
  2. Develop, manage and control the events management budget.
  3. Participate in the recruitment, training, target setting and evaluation of employee’s performance.

  5. Planning and securing orders for trade shows/Exhibitions

The incumbent shall report to the Deputy Chief of Party, Technical Services

Position Summary:

The Lead System Developer shall work closely with project stakeholders, other developers, quality assurance specialist and business analysts to design, develop, and maintain the HIS systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities shall be as follows:

  1. Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions to design, develop, and test HIS systems
  2. Enhance existing HIS systems by analyzing business requirements, preparing an action plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement
  3. Maintain the existing HIS assigned to you and by identifying and correcting software defects.
  4. Facilitate and contribute to HIS systems integration.
  5. Collaborate and share ideas with the developer team members.
  6. Learn and develop skills to keep abreast with new Technologies
  7. Conduct systematic HIS system testing and document these.
  8. Engage users and the technology team in order to prioritize system feature Requests
  9. Provide insight regarding usability and user experience to guide the development and impact of the products for our customers.

Job Specification:

  2. A least 3 years’ experience in enterprise Software Development.
  3. Extensive experience with Java and Python programming languages coupled with practical experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.
  4. Demonstrable proficiency in modern software development Frameworks or methodologies such as RAD, JAD, and DSDM
  5. Experience in the Kenya Health Sector with expert knowledge in DHIS2 and related systems will be an added advantage
  6. Good team Leader
  7. Ability to train the users on the developed systems.

UNES in joint partnership with the UON Library conducted an Automated Referencing Training on an Open Program basis. It targeted the corporate clients from different organizations and it is a three day corporate training program that runs through 21st June, 2017- 23rd June, 2017 at the University of Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library Training Center in Nairobi. The 1st phase of the training covers the Overview of various Referencing Softwares: Mendely and ZOTERO with the applicability and practical aspects.

The University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus conducted an Open Week under the theme: Advancing the frontier of Knowledge in the Lake Region. It took place at the Kisumu Campus Complex along Oginga Odinga Street from 13th -20th May 2017. The Open Week formed a crucial interactive platform among different stakeholders from the Lake Region. The event involved participations and exhibitions by the University of Nairobi and other key stakeholders in the private, public and NGO sector.

UNES participated as one of the corporate partners and showcased the key commercial SBUs especially the Consultancy, Hospitality and Bookstores. This was meant to connect UNES to the corporate world both internal and external. During the Marketing Event, UNES presented an award to the UON Library in terms of Book Donation to support the University and also to recognize and uphold the corporate social responsibility as part of its core values. .
