UNES participated in the joint workshop jointly organized by ERC and UN Environment to launch the global project “Integrating Electric 2 & 3 Wheelers into Existing Urban Transport Modes in Developing and Transitional Countries.” This is a project in which ERC has been nominated by the UN Environment to implement and is set to be completed in 2019. The project is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and it is anticipated that it will support the shift to electric 2 & 3 wheelers in developing countries and will encompass activities in several countries including Kenya. UNES is looking forward to entering into a contractual agreement with ERC as part of the implementing partners.

Presentations and discussions on implementing the global project and national activities under the project have been held during today’s project launch workshop. The UNES team led by Prof. James Nyang’aya, Prof.-Ing Ayub Gitau, Robert Mathenge and Stanley Ngache also made its presentation on “Overview of Motorization and Emissions in Kenya”.
