Climate Change Adaptation Conference

The 3rd Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation in Africa Conference, January 23 & 24, 2020 at University of Nairobi

It is widely known that Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate change shown by the 5th Assessment Report (AR5) produced by Intergovernmental Report on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that climate change is expected to have widespread impact on Africa societies and African interaction with the environment. The 3rd Symposium discusses the means via which Africa nations may foster their resilience and their capacity to adapt meaning that it will serve the purpose of showcasing experiences from research, field projects and best practices in climate change adaptation in Africa which may be useful or implemented in other countries in the continent. It is a two day event happening at on of the premier Universities in Africa, the University of Nairobi from January 23 & 24, 2020. University of Nairobi Towers 4th Floor located within the CBC, Nairobi Kenya. Over 200 guest attended the event including exhibitors showcasing their varied products and services. UNES and University of Nairobi and Strathmore University were part of the organizing teams along side partners international partners; ICCIRP, ESEA and Haw Hamburg. Sponsors included: DAAD, NDMA, Kenya Climate Innovation, Kenya Market Trust and National Musium. UNES Hospitality proved hospitality services to over 200 guest who attended the occasion.

The occasion was graced by Co-chairs: Prof. Nicholas Oguge and Prof. Izael Da Sila. Key Note Speakers and guests included: Dr. Vincent Ogutu (Vice Chancellor Designate- Strathmore University), Prof. Stephen G. Kiama – (University of Nairobi), Dr. Jeseph Njorogge (PS State Department of Engery) and Ms. Betty Maina (PS, State Department of Environment and Forestry).
