Born in 1978, Mr. Seith Abeka is the Ag. Managing Director of the UNES Limited. Previously headed UNES Consultancy and Partnership department as the Chief Manager in charge of Consultancy & Partnerships portfolio. He has wealth of experience in Organization Development and Project Management.

He has served as Local Consultant at the Transfer of Functions Office (TOFO) in Kenya for Brot für die Welt – Germany where he supported many community development projects across the country.

He has extensive experience in HIV and AIDS programming and wealth of knowledge in Gender Mainstreaming. He has attended many local and international seminars and workshops on capacity development.

Mr. Abeka

Mr. Abeka is the Chief Manager, Consultancy & partnerships at the University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services (UNES) Consultancy Unit and the Head of Unit. As the head of the Consultancy Division, Mr. Abeka Heads all Consultancy Programs & Short Course Trainings. He is primarily responsible for program oversight, development and implementation of programs that add value, achieve the greatest impact to the University Community and stakeholders. He provides leadership and mentorship to Project Officers and Consultants from the University. He is responsible for team member’s development. 

Mr. Abeka is a member of UNES’s Executive and Senior management team.  He is a member of the UNES Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC). As the head of the Unit, he sits in the recruitment Committee of UNES. He has requisite capacities on matters of Human Resource Management. He oversees a number of Consultancy Projects implemented by UNES. He has steered UNES Consultancy unit to higher ground since he joined UNES on 24th November 2013 as Senior Projects Officer. He has established a ‘home” for the Consultancy unit along State House Road Nairobi with fully fledged secretariat. He has brought a wealth of expertise and experience as an Organization development practitioner. The role of Chief Manager, Consultancy & Partnerships encompass program planning, proposal writing, reporting, and programs monitoring, evaluation, capacity building, as well as coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Previously, Mr. Abeka successfully served for 10 years as Team leader for Consultancy Department at TAABCO Research and Development Consultants Ltd. TAABCO is a resource organization that strengthens capacities of civil society actors to manage change processes. TAABCO is also the Transfer of Function Office for Bread for the World – Germany. While at TAABCO, he successfully served as the local consultant for Bread for the World (Germany) partner organizations for over 8 years. Mr. Abeka served as the Kenyan Desk Officer for Bread for the World and also coordinating the gender and development desk.

Mr. Abeka is an Organization Development (OD) practitioner.  He is also a gender, HIV and AIDS expert. Mr. Abeka supported the National AIDS Control Council (NACC) as a capacity building officer for the Nairobi Region in strengthening the capacities of the Civil Society Organizations supported under the World Bank funding for Total War Against AIDS (TOWA grant) on Organization Development Systems Strengthening (ODSS) framework. He was the Regional Facilitating Agency (RFA) officer for Nairobi Region. He has vast experience in HIV and AIDS management having worked with NACC.

Mr. Abeka is pursuing two PhD programs at the University of Nairobi and at Kisii University; a PhD in Anthropology and PhD in Project Planning and Management respectively. He holds Master’s Degree in Gender and Development studies from the University of Nairobi; and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Economics from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant candidate of Vision Institute for Professionals (VIP) pursuing section 3 & 4. Mr. Abeka is an all-round development consultant with competence in; Writing winning proposals, Projects & Programme Design and Management, Management Systems, Finance and Grant/Fund management, research and Policy Analysis. He successfully conceptualized the Kenyan Community Based Health Financing Scheme through the Kenya Community Based Health Financing Association (KCBHFA)with pilot projects spread all over the country.

Mr. Abeka is computer literate in the latest versions of Ms. Office Suite. He combines expertise in the development and use of statistical computer packages i.e. SPSS, Epi-Data, Epi-Info, SAS, Ms. Access, Spread sheets, Nudist Software for qualitative data analysis, MER software etc. He carries with him an impressive track record on successfully managing Consultancy Projects offered to major clients within the public and private sectors in Kenya. He has proven experience in developing Government and Development Partners Proposal Guidelines. He has vast experience with Donor/ Development Partners funded Projects, having served within the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

Mr. Abeka is a trainer and excellent facilitator having facilitated a series of national and international workshops for Bread for the World-Germany partner organizations in Kenya in various aspects of development including: Food security, gender, HIV and AIDS mainstreaming and social protection. Mr. Abeka has worked previously at the Centre for the Study of Adolescents as a researcher, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) as Census Supervisor and Strategic Public Relations & Research. He has a wealth of knowledge in Demographic and Health surveys. He has both Government and NGOs experience.
